Why?

In December 2024, we set out from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to row the Atlantic Ocean in support of a small Kiwi charity. Sixty-five days later, we made landfall at English Harbour in Antigua after an ocean voyage of almost 3000 miles. Much to our delight, our effort proved to be a new World Record... we became the oldest mixed pair to row across any ocean.

In early 2026, Ingrid and Walter Glasser from Germany arrived in Antigua to claim this record. Rowing as team 'Hansel & Gretel', their crossing took just TBC days. Records, of course, are made to be broken. Rowing once again as team 'Glimmering Sea', we therefore intend setting out in December 2027 to row the Atlantic Ocean in an attempt to reclaim the title.

Mission

The mission will be to reclaim our lost World Record of course, but this time we'll be supporting three great charities... one international, one national, and one local. We're aiming to set out once again from La Gomera as entrants in the World's Toughest Row, one of the planet's hardest endurance events. Last time we had an experience... this time we have a mission.

Vision

Our vision for this ocean voyage is to raise awareness and funds for three great charities that in combination support the elderly, young people and endangered wildlife. In their own district ways, these charities are trailblazers. Please check out their websites on our charities tab to learn more.
